ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work with minimal supervision from the Service Manager and/or other technicians to install equipment and conversions in customer’s facilities. Field Service Engineer can perform these functions independently with minimal supervision.
- Place equipment on the plant production floor.
- Mechanical and electrical reassembling of equipment.
- Installation of new or redesigned machine components.
- Testing all component parts of the machine and running of test production runs.
- Monitoring plant production to maximize line efficiencies.
- Training plant personnel on how to operate and maintain equipment.
- Complete service reports and exit interviews with the customer.
- Follow up with customers and internal contacts as needed.
- Work with minimal supervision from the Service Manager and/or other Field Service Engineers to service Delkor equipment in customer facilities. Field Service Engineer can perform these functions independently with minimal supervision.
- Provide service/PM/Audits/Optimization support to customers with Delkor equipment. This includes any documentation provided to the customer.
- Provide customers with machine or operational related issues; make recommendations as needed.
- Observing the machine in operation, making recommendations for changes and/or upgrades.
- Training plant personnel on how to operate and maintain equipment.
- Complete service reports and exit interviews with the customer.
- Follow up with customers and internal contacts as needed.
- Work with minimal supervision from the Machine Checkout Team Leader and/or experienced Service Engineers to perform checkout of Delkor equipment. Service Engineer can lead and perform checkouts independently with little oversight.
- Power up and set up equipment.
- Download, edit, and troubleshoot programs to PLC’s and HMI’s
- Setup and test running of all products for the customer which includes FAT’s.
- Troubleshooting during the checkout of the equipment to ensure final product for customer meets design and performance expectations.
- Work with the Checkout Team Lead and Production manager to verify the machine shipment is complete with all components and manuals.
- Document checkout and re-work time accordingly.
- Work with the Production Manager and Assembly Team Leads and/or experienced machine builders to assist with the assembly of machines. Service Engineer can assemble equipment independently or in a group at this level.
- Perform Mechanical and Electrical sub and final assembly.
- Document assembly and re-work time accordingly.
- Work with entire assembly floor team to ensure that the assembly floor area remains well organized and free of clutter.
- Report any machine or plant safety and or quality concerns to the production manager or VP of operations.
- Assist in identifying equipment or labor cost reduction and improvement ideas.
- Work with customers over the telephone to resolve issues when required
- Perform all other tasks or duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Two-year Automated Systems and Robotics or related degree.
- Two or more years of experience as a Field Service Engineer I or 3 years of prior experience doing field related work.
- Understanding of the fundamentals of assembly and check-out of packaging or related types of equipment. This technician should be able to handle standard types of Delkor product line equipment.
- Experience in using various types of pneumatic and electrical tools including air tools, grinders, band saw, sanders, lifting and moving devices, saws, drills and assortments of hand tools.
Technical Skills and Abilities
- Clear understanding and knowledge of electricity. Understands Ohm’s law and basic principles of electric circuits. Ability to troubleshoot and solve wiring or electrical components; this includes the use of a meter.
- Understanding of the fundamentals of programming RSLogix 500 and 5000 based controllers, PanelView Plus HMI’s, and has a broad understanding of PLC and HMI componentry.
- Ability to read, understand, and analyze machine drawings and 3D models.
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve mechanical, electrical, and minor programming machinery related issues.
- Ability to use standard computer programs for work processing, including Microsoft Office Products.
- Able to problem solve and take direction regarding routine activities and problem resolution.

Physical Requirements
- Stand or walk for a good portion of the workday.
- Able to judge distances and space relationships to successfully complete detailed activities to fine tolerances, including reading written plans, schematics, layouts, and other documents.
- Communicate effectively to give and receive detailed information through verbal and/or non-verbal communication in person or using the telephone; exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately to customers, co-workers, supervisors, vendors and others inside and outside the company.
- Regularly lift 40 pounds; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- Apply physical mobility (reaching, bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling, arm and leg extension, lift, carry, push and pull) to perform all assembly production activities including moving parts, tools, equipment and materials in and out of vehicles.
Work Environment
- Approximately seventy percent (70%) of the job duties are performed at remote locations at customer facilities in a production environment where exposure to tools, dirt, dust, chemicals, varying temperatures, construction noises, and odors from production processes is a regular occurrence. Travel may occur on short notice.
- Approximately twenty percent (20%) of the job duties are performed at Delkor on the assembly floor in a production environment where exposure to tools, dirt, dust, chemicals, varying temperatures, construction noises, and odors from production processes is a regular occurrence.
- Approximately ten percent (10%) of the work is performed in an office setting, carrying out detail work sitting at a desk and working on the computer, or working at an office table.
Tools and Equipment
- Use general office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, copiers, e-mail, and other such equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and passport without any travel restrictions for domestic or international travel.
Pay Range
- The hourly salary range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00 per hour. This salary range accounts for various factors considered in the hiring process, including but not limited to education, skills, work experience, and certifications. As a result, the final salary offer for the selected candidate(s) may fall anywhere within this range.
