As a Principal member of the software engineering division, you will assist in designing, developing, debugging of software applications on the cloud. Provide technical leadership to a team of junior and senior software developers. Specify, design, and implement changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team can provide you the opportunity to build and operate a suite of massive scale, integrated cloud services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment.  OCI is committed to providing the best in cloud products that meet the needs of our customers who are tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges.

The Virtual Networking team within OCI delivers Network-as-a-Service that handle planning, provisioning, life cycle management and security of our customers' network infrastructure.

Description of the Role: What would the candidate work on if s/he joined your team?

This is an opportunity to be a part of a team that is bootstrapping a brand new OCI service and build innovative solutions for our customers from the ground up.  We are looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems related to high-availability and scalability in service-oriented architectures. These are exciting times, and our team is still young and growing fast, working on ambitious new initiatives.  An engineer at any level can have significant technical and business impact. We are looking for adaptable, self-motivated engineers with ability to learn quickly.

We are looking for engineers that are eager to take requirements and turn those into high quality solutions. You should be both a rock-solid coder and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low-level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Basic Qualifications:

8+ years of experience with application/systems development

5+ years of experience with distributed systems OR network programming

Proficient at programming in any two out of C/C++, Python, Java, Scala, GO

Proficient with data structures, algorithms, operating systems.

Master’s in computer science and engineering or related engineering fields

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields

Experience in Cloud Networking and/or Infrastructure-as-a-Service, viz. OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure.

Experience in building application at cloud scale

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
