We currently have a career opportunity for an SAP Commerce Lead Engineer to join our team located in Portland, OR.  This role requires regular onsite presence to collaborate directly with the client.

As an SAP Commerce Lead Engineer you will participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle which includes estimating, development, technical design, implementation, documentation, testing, deployment and support of application developed for our clients. As a member working in a team environment, you will collaborate with client solution architects on various initiatives and may take a lead or advisory role in areas such as composable storefront (Spartacus), leveraging your expertise to guide key decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and drive the development and implementation of complex SAP Commerce features encompassing backend and frontend customizations, setting standards for technologies such as Java, Spring Framework, Composable Storefront/Spartacus, Angular, and TypeScript, while promoting clean code principles to ensure high-quality, maintainable solutions across the team, leveraging full-stack expertise.
  • Own the design, development, maintenance, and troubleshooting strategy for complex backend data integrations.
  • Establish and enforce high standards for code quality, performance, and stability in Java/Spring-based development; lead rigorous code reviews, define automated testing strategies (e.g., JUnit, Mockito), and provide senior technical mentorship to engineering teams.
  • Spearhead the troubleshooting and resolution of the most complex and critical SAP Commerce issues (Java code, integrations, data), lead performance tuning initiatives (SQL/FlexibleSearch, caching, SOLR), and guide the team in effectively utilizing logs and APM tools.
  • Drive and significantly influence technical design and architecture for Java/Spring-based SAP Commerce solutions, ensuring optimal scalability, security, maintainability, and acting as a key technical liaison with architects and stakeholders.
  • Proactively research, evaluate, and champion advancements in SAP Commerce Cloud, Java, and Spring Framework; lead initiatives to identify, evaluate, and implement significant backend technical improvements, and guide the team through platform upgrades.


Qualifications
  • Possess 8+ years of extensive, hands-on SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) full stack development and architectural experience, demonstrating mastery of its base programming language (Java) and core framework (Spring - including Core, MVC, Security, Data, Integration), alongside expert-level knowledge of platform modules and data models and UI development including hands on experience with Angular and Typescript.
  • Proven track record architecting and leading the development of solutions for highly complex B2B SAP Commerce implementations, with deep, mandatory hands-on expertise designing and implementing backend integrations using SAP Commerce Integration Objects for data exchange with external systems, and leveraging the OCC module to enable API-driven functionalities. 
  • Expert-level understanding of the SAP Commerce platform architecture, including nuanced application of the type system, advanced optimization of the persistence layer (FlexibleSearch, ORM), strategic implementation of caching strategies (RegionCache, Ehcache), mastery of SOLR search/indexing configuration and optimization, and sophisticated data management using ImpEx.
  • In-depth practical experience and strategic understanding of SAP Commerce Cloud (CCv2) environments, including leading best practices for code repository management (Git), optimizing build/deployment processes (using Cloud Portal/CI/CD tooling), leveraging cloud monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk/OpenSearch) for proactive issue resolution, and architecting solutions considering headless (Composable Storefront / Spartacus) integration points.
  • Extensive experience leading development efforts within Agile/Scrum methodologies, expertly utilizing tools like Jira and Confluence for planning and documentation, combined with advanced proficiency in backend debugging techniques, logging frameworks (e.g., Log4j2), and leading performance analysis/tuning efforts for backend code and database queries.
  • SAP Certified Development Professional highly desired.
  • Experience with the Composable Storefront (formerly Spartacus) and Angular.

 

The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The new hire salary range displays the minimum and maximum salary targets for this position across all US locations, and the range has not been adjusted for any specific state differentials. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the unique facts and circumstances regarding each candidate. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $73,008  to $170,640. Please note that the salary range posted reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits or any potential equity or variable bonus programs.
