Overview

A leading manufacturing organization is seeking a Director of Plant Engineering to drive operational performance, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement across a high-volume production facility. This role is responsible for leading maintenance and engineering functions, optimizing plant efficiency, and executing strategic capital initiatives that enhance long-term operational success.

The ideal candidate is a results-oriented leader with strong technical expertise, a data-driven mindset, and a proven ability to build high-performing teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead capital projects from concept through execution, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in compliance with all safety and regulatory standards
  • Oversee project planning and implementation to minimize production disruption and maximize operational impact
  • Develop and implement advanced maintenance strategies, including preventive and predictive maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
  • Drive improvements in equipment reliability, uptime, and overall operational efficiency
  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance and engineering teams, promoting a strong safety-first culture and accountability at all levels
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues while identifying and addressing root causes to prevent recurrence
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, quality, and leadership teams to support plant goals and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Build organizational capability through talent development, performance management, and succession planning
  • Foster a culture of safety, communication, engagement, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering and/or maintenance leadership within a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of developing high-performing teams
  • Strong technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, including automation and controls
  • Proven experience managing large-scale capital projects and budgets
  • Knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, and reliability-centered maintenance practices
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with industrial refrigeration systems
  • Background in high-volume production operations

Additional Requirements

  • Flexibility to support off-shift or weekend operations as needed
