The Watts Co-op Program is your chance to bring what you’ve learned in the classroom to life! You’ll dive into real-world projects, gaining hands-on experience while learning how business really works from the inside. During the program, you’ll get to roll up your sleeves and make an impact on day-to-day operations. Plus, you'll have tons of opportunities to network with passionate professionals across manufacturing, industrial engineering, and more—sparking new ideas through cross-department collaboration. It’s all about expanding your skills, challenging yourself, and exploring where your ambitions can take you!

This is an engineering student position from January through June.  Dependent upon the individual’s major in engineering as well as the amount and type of coursework completed, the student will be assigned various tasks which they are capable of achieving.  The individual is expected to use hands on and theoretical techniques to perform practical engineering task which may include the design, modification, testing/validation improvement and documentation of existing and new products or processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop designs for new, special or existing products or processes in collaboration with other engineers.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and perform modifications to products or processes.
  • Perform testing on various items.  Collect and analyze data.  Document and present results.  Develop, modify and maintain manual and automated test equipment used in either research, product development, production or with suppliers.
  • Work from product or process specifications and requirements to develop layouts, detail drawings, engineering change notices, component specifications and bills of materials and calculated dimensions and tolerances. Perform design related calculations and testing to verify assumptions.
  • Updating and maintaining equipment records, calibrations, and equipment service.
  • Build concept and prototype models, material formulations or electrical hardware/software.
  • Contribute to the overall organization of the labs while working towards a 5s goal.
  • Prepare 2D and 3D mechanical or electrical CAD layouts and detailed drawings.
  • Develop and modify documentation related to product process, design or testing.
  • Other related duties and projects as requested.

 EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Current student enrolled in a Bachelor or Masters of Science degree program in Electrical, Mechanical or Material Engineering or Engineering Physics.

Working Conditions:

While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment. You may, at times, be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to work in the office at the Menomonee Falls, WI location (Monday – Friday). Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.

Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to remain seated at a desk or workstation for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks like typing on a keyboard or using a mouse for extended periods.
  • Ability to physically move around the office, organize or transport files, packages, or other office-related materials.
  • Ability to read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with management and coworkers, particularly in meetings or phone calls.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and copiers.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry light objects, such as office supplies, documents, or small equipment.
