We are an established OEM Machine Design company of Advanced Material and Composite Component Processing Machines and are looking for an engaged Machine Design Engineer to work in concert with our Mechanical, Electrical, Controls and Assembly teams to design and develop our next generation Composite processing lines to support our continued growth and leading global position.

Your Role:

As Machine Design Engineer you will be working with a cross functional team of mechanical, electrical, manufacturing engineers and Purchasing agents on complex designs from the research/conceptual phase through to successful product launch, and into post-launch support and be helping to setup and direct the designs so that they meet the specifications, are efficient and cost effective. This involves supporting the planning, development, prototyping, and documentation of mechanical designs within the product development environment and utilizing design and component “Standards” where possible. This position requires coordination and collaboration of activities with other departments and project managers within a matrix, stage gate product development environment.

What We Look For:

      Experienced in machine design; including expertise in the implementation of pneumatic, hydraulic, motor sizing, and basic electronic components as related to machine operation

      Overseeing the development and manufacturing of physical prototypes for testing.

      Managing to project timelines, resources, and budgets.

      Liaising with clients, designers, engineers, and manufacturers to ensure coherence.

      Preparing technical reports, design specifications documents, and operational manuals.

      Knowledge of processes related to web conversion, web conveying, and web coating equipment and how to incorporate safety systems, protection and guarding

      Strong ability to build, test, and troubleshoot equipment, resulting in a solution and plan for implementation. 

      Comfortable working with large assemblies, weldments, and sheet metal design within SolidWorks

      Knowledge of GD&T principles and ASME Y14.5-94 Drafting Standards

      Experienced in designing for manufacturability and within budget

 

Education/Experience:

      Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechatronix engineering, or related field

      7+ Years of machine and mechanical system design, installation, and support

      5 years designing machinery with Solidworks
