Candidate will use skills acquired through formal training/education to execute the following and related tasks in support of product development and management responsibilities.
Design and maintain weld process standards to ensure high quality finished products
Design and sustain weld fixtures for current and new products
Coordinate with production and design engineering to ensure weld department has all required documentation and tooling required
Design and develop equipment, processes, and shop layout for maximum efficiency and flow.
Develop, audit and maintain time standards for the establishment of accurate standard costs.
Implement continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to realize gains in employee ownership, performance, reliability.
Recommend ways to reduce product costs and improvefunctionality. Actively work with design engineers and product line teams to implement design and manufacturing changes.
Evaluate capital equipment investments and prepares cost justifications as well as manage the overall implementation of capital equipment projects within allocated budgets and time schedules.
Partner with business unit quality department and shop floor in quality improvements through root cause analysis and problem resolution
Ensure all changes are made consistent to all safety standards
Train employees as needed.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in welding science and best practices
Welding proficiency preferred
Experience in manufacturing environment (3-5 yr min)
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering/Industrial Engineering or an equivalent field of Engineering preferred.
Ability to read and understand design drawings
Ability to read and understand design drawings with geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) preferred.
Strong computer skills (Access, Excel, Word, CAD software, ERP/MRP system).
Effective communication/interpersonal skills are required.
PHYSICAL:
This position may exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally with assistance, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as well as the use of arm and/or leg controls with exertion greater than that of sedentary work. May also push, pull. lift, carry, grasp, finger or otherwise move objects
Normally assigned to a factory office environment; will be required to work a substantial amount of time in the factory.
Uses computer terminal frequently; interfaces with other employees and outside visitors by e-mail, telephone, mail and/or in person.
Is required to wear safety glasses, ear protection, and safety shoes within the factory environment.
Must be able to climb onto and under mobile equipment to access mechanical and electrical components.
