Overview

Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer in support of the Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (SOF AT&L) Program Executive Office for Maritime (PEO-M). The premier SOF acquirers in PEO Maritime are committed to delivering the highest quality technologically advanced combat diving equipment, surface systems, and undersea platforms globally to Naval Special Warfare operators.

 

This is a full-time opportunity located at MacDill AFB, FL.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • In support of PEO-M's Dry Combat Submersible (DCS) program, provides significant, expert-level support to government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of agency engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements
  • Complete advanced engineering demand tasks such as reviewing engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials
  • Apply advanced tools to document and analyze the results of critical, complex activities and tasks
  • Evaluate state-of-the-art scientific and environmental/engineering technologies and incorporate them into the planning, design, operation, maintenance, repair, and upgrade of applicable systems
  • Provide expert-level inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution
  • Direct and coordinate engineering and maintenance programs, and informthe  development of criteria for specialized critical system design
  • Expertly adjust technical support to meet emergencies, changing programs or production requirements within available resources and without sacrificing to completeness and accuracy
  • Work with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed projects.
  • Direct engineering sufficiency review of assigned programs and projects until turnover
  • Evaluate and recommend programs and development plans, utilizing a professional knowledge of multi-disciplinary engineering
  • Support contract modification and make technical recommendations for change order approval; support budget control directly supporting the engineering effort
  • Provide decision support inputs for approval of plans, specifications, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies
  • Support technical evaluation elements of market surveys conducted in conjunction with assigned projects and programs
  • Plan, execute, and document surveillance of design, development, and production efforts on behalf of government counterparts, using performance indicators identified in applicable engineering surveillance processes
  • Analyze trends in performance indicators to assist government counterparts with managing agency-level performance indicators, recommending corrective action, establishing lessons learned, and influencing the improvement of processes
  • Plan and program to support improvement and modernization, advanced strategic planning, marketing, and technical symposia; support management of the organization's direct and reimbursable budget, and verification of test program funds

 

Qualifications

Minimum Experience:
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a Secret clearance
Certifications: DAWIA Practitioner (formerly Level II), Equivalency in the Program Management, Engineering & Technical Management, or Test & Evaluation fields, or ability to attain within 6 months of hire with approved customer deferral
Education: Bachelor's degree in an engineering field
Years of Experience: 10 years of systems engineering or systems integration experience in support of acquisition programs
  • Knowledge of unique design requirements and functionality of ungrounded maritime electrical systems
  • Knowledge of supply chain management and the engineering principles in relation to identifying and assessing vulnerabilities of counterfeits in the supply chain
Preferred Experience:
Education and Experience: Master's degree in an engineering field and 8 years of systems engineering or systems integration experience in support of acquisition programs
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with design and analysis of maritime electrical systems is desired
  • Experience in electrical sub-systems and electrical system design of currently fielded Naval Special Warfare craft is valued
